Mother's Day Flowers

Hydrangea from my "Heart Mate"
He's been giving me flowers on
Mother's Day for a long long while.
I became a mother for the first time
when I was nineteen years old.....
a sweet baby girl.
She was our first blessing straight from God and a constant
delight in our lives now.
God would
bless us again with two more beautiful children,
a boy that as a child would bring us joy and laughter,
and another daughter who would dance ballet,
one day marry
and have four babies.
-
and now....I am Grandmother
having
grandchildren.....that number nine,
the youngest being seven months old
they
fill my life with much love and incredible happiness....
God is good....
-
Ah....Mother's Day...a time for reflection.
-
Happy Mother's Day
dear dear ladies having been
blessed with children....

....my grandson

......sitting up is a good thing, and at
seven months old, he's got a lot
of exploring to do.
What we have here is my grandson,
trying to pick up polka-dot reflections
on the floor. The curtains are sheer
and the sun is shining through casting
little dots all over the place.
He is so precious, as he gives this
some serious thought.
Using my pencils and watercolors,
he has been defined as ......"pure sweetness."

cont......Blue Tasseled Hat

"I entered the room just like she told me to. She
kept calling me Sam and at first I tried explaining
my name wasn't Sam, that she was mistaking me
for someone else. She wasn't listening to me
and kept talking, saying something about this
being the date we had planned to go away together."
-
"Man, I just wanted to get out of there when
I noticed the bottle of pills turned
over on the table."
"I've waited for you to come back, she said. I
knew you would come and I'm wearing your
favorite dress and the hat that always made
you smile when I wore it."
"I could barely make out the hat as the
Hotel Chelsea sign kept blinking off and on.
-
"I wasn't going to touch her officer, I swear....
but suddenly she said, "Kiss me Sam"
and I kissed her."
-
"Officer, I swear, I tried to talk some sense into
her." I said, "Lady, you got the wrong guy!"
-
As the detective walked out into the night air, he
knew the kid had been telling the truth.
He had heard these stories before, where
a jilted woman unable to get through the clouds,
gets swallowed up in the city and then one day......
-
No one knew anything about her, not even her name.
She was known only as the
"The Lady In The Blue Tassled Hat."

"The Lady In The Blue Tasseled Hat

.....No one knew who she was
when she checked into the Chelsea Hotel
that hot summer afternoon in 1957.
The inhabitants there would consider
her a woman of mystery. She was
friendly with no one and her penetrating
blue eyes seemed sad, as though they
were locked on sadness, still somewhere in her past.
The lady in apartment #102
lived a secluded life and never had visitors.
Deliveries were made and left by her door.
Seldom
did she leave her apartment,
and when she did,
she always wore a "blue
tasseled hat."
Whispers and speculations were made
by the doorman and the desk clerk,
and they often wondered if she were a spy.
And then....
late one night the desk clerk answered a
call from her apartment. Her voice had
sounded faint, but it had been clear she
wanted him to come at once.
Having knocked on the door, he had heard
her say "Come in, the door is open."
The apartment was dark, but he could see
her silhouette standing between french
doors that opened onto a balcony.
The neon lights
from the Chelsea Hotel sign
blinked on and off and the clerk could
see the woman was wearing a long chiffon
gown, and the "blue tasseled hat."
She held a cigarette in her hand and
the smoke encircled her head.
"I knew you'd come," she said.
It's been a long time......
The clerk realized she had mistaken him
for someone else,
perhaps someone she once knew........ to be continued.
-
It seems.....
that my drawings are generating
characters right out of good ole mystery novels....
....having a good time with my imagination
when I bring out my pencils and watercolors.

Sweet Periwinkle

.....by the birdbath, between
the bricks, I noticed tiny
leaves poking through.
That was a few weeks ago,
and today, there grows one long stem
of sweet Periwinkle.
So many things are happening
in the garden, and each day brings
unexpected surprises. The heat
and the humidity have returned,
and that means watering the plants
will have to be often and will be necessary.
We're expecting rain for the next
few days....it will be welcomed
and most gratefully received.

......gender partners

A daughter is a mother's gender partner....
her closest ally in the family confederacy,
and extension of her self.
And mothers and their daughter's role,
model their biological and emotional road map,
the arbiter of all their relationships~Victoria Secunda
-
Mother and daughter are in the above photo,
once again in the theme of "Mother's Day"....
While walking on the beach late
Sunday afternoon...
I happened upon this beautiful setting
of quiet time between a
mother and daughter.
Taking turns placing
their hand down in a hole filled with water,
they brought out dripping wet sand,
building a sand castle together.
Smiling at one another,
their conversation was quiet,
meant only for the two of them.
-
I think the photo captures this
sweet sweet moment between
mother and daughter... "gender partners."

.....for Mother's Day

......I've been inspired by Picasso's
"Mother and Child"
and why not make my own cards
for the occasion.
So I brought out my pencils and
watercolors and this sweet
painting came into being.
-
We have a growing family,
with precious little mothers,
and mother's to be.
I love that I have another opportunity
to send messages of love, while
thanking them for sweet grandbabies.
Good blessings for the day.....Dee Dee

"So I said to her.....

"Honey....ne'va ne'va, expose your delicate,
perfectly lovely and, eva' so sensitive
skin to the sun."....." Why dahlin'
a "southern lady" would just
ne'va, ne'va ev'va do such a thing."
-
We walked on the beach again this
afternoon, and it occured to me
that young ladies of today,
are not so concerned with exposing
their skin to the sun.
I can remember doing the same thing
when I was much younger.
These days, I can be seen
sitting in the sun for shorter periods
of time.....while
wearing one very large brimmed hat
or sitting beneath a very large umbrella.
From all I've read....we'd all better
use some precaution while having
fun in the sun....
Let's put on a good sunscreen to protect us
and read up on the dangers of over-exposing ourselves
to the sun.
Have a great week.....Dee Dee

.....and the living is easy....

oh my.....the temps are pushing 90 degrees
but that's alright......the living is easy
and the air conditioning is feeling mighty fine.
Saturday's are always busy for me.......
but today is a good, fun busy day.
We started the day off with a T-Ball game,
watching some skillful, well-played
short-stop manuvers by
our grandson...
Then, a little shopping at everyones favorite
store "Wal-Mart" ...uhmmm...
looking for another fan....I think we're gonna need it.
-
The flowers shown here,
are
from last summer.....
Gorgeous Geraniums, Impatiens
and Begonias.
I'll be looking for the same kind
of arrangement when we stop in
to Home Depot garden area....later today.
The Mister will be
shopping for a new mail box
and I'll be in my usual place......
amongst the flowers.
So.....you can see...
we're having a fun busy day.
Blessings.....Dee Dee
