Strong coastal winds
cause the cold to penetrate
right down to the bone.
I feel it
as it filters
through my light weight
linen blouse and trousers.

Warmth from the sunshine
is not to be found
and I grow
weary.

I've searched
for coats, warm
sweaters, and scarves
to no avail.
In their stead
swimwear
hangs from the racks
along side
straw hats
sandals, Crocs and flip-flops.
Oh, the perils of unlikely
weather extremes.....
